Gambling can be a harmless past time for some people, but for a percentage of other people it can be devastating addiction that destroy marriages, homes, families etc. At the extreme gambling side of the scale with problem gambling can lead to bankruptcy, severe debt and even suicides.

It is most peoples dream to have lots of money and be financially independent. So people dream of winning it big or winning a jackpot that will help them achieve their ultimate dreams. A Texas oilman gambled with Kerry Packer in the same room, but this guy got upset by the special treatment and the stir that Kerry Packer got from the staff. So this Texan oilman told Kerry Packer "I'm worth $60 million (my fortune) partner. So this oilman bragged about his whole fortune with one of the top wealthiest billionaires men in the world. Kerry Packer told him really partner... pretending to be impressed with that statement. The oilman smiled and said "Yes I am". So Kerry Packer replied "I'll toss you for it!" So Kerry Packer was prepared to toss him over a coin his whole fortune. The oilman walked away in shock. That is real gambling friends.

It can become very easy to lose control of your money when gambling excessively. As the money starts running out it becomes very tempting to gamble even more money in the hope of a big win in order to clear debts. More often or not though this just leads to even greater debts and  more desperate gambling. It can get to a point where there seems no way back, and gamblers become to afraid to face their debts so just continue gambling.

The following points can help tackle debt and control excessive gambling:

• Take responsibility for your gambling and debt
• Share your problems with someone you trust and could support you
• Ask someone you trust to look after your bank cards for a period of time
• If necessary destroy your credit cards

Debt is a problem that is ever increasing in our society today.
